Brawley Eartquake has Yuma Rocking
Did you feel the tremble of the magnitude 5.5 earthquake yesterday near Brawley CA. ?
Sunday afternoon at 1:58PM the ground shook for many Yuma residents. While I didn’t feel it my oldest daughter did and we all just thought she
89 World Series interrupted by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake in San Francisco California. My wife was one of the survivors having been tossed to the ground from the hood of a car she was sitting on.
imagined it because everyone else was too busy to notice the earth move. The earthquake was centered 2 miles south to southwest of Brawley, or about 11 miles northeast of El Centro California. It was relatively shallow at 5.6 miles beneath the surface.
An earlier quake of magnitude 5.3 hit at 12:32 PM 3 miles northwest of Brawley and throughout the evening there were aftershocks ranging from magnitude 2.5 to 4.9 on the Richter Scale. A bit closer to home San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora Mexico had a magnitude 2.6 earthquake at 4:36PM. If you were shopping in San Luis Arizona or Mexico you might have felt a slight wobble.
While prior years have had little activity the last year and a half have been a bit of fun with these trembles. The wife says I’m nuts for getting excited and tracking quakes on the USGS website but she’s also a survivor of the 7.1 magnitude San Fransisco earthquake that devastated the area. She’s perfectly fine now where the ground barely moves.

Yuma County Job Fair Hundreds of Jobs Available
Yuma Private Industry Council ( YPIC ) Job Fair
Wednesday August 29th from 9AM to 1PM YPIC will host a Yuma Private Industry Council Job Fair. There will be over 50 employers in attendance 
and taking applications and doing interviews on the spot. For a county with 31.2% unemployment this is music to many ears so come early.

NationsHealth will be at the Job Fair they are also hiring for positions starting soon. All together they will train an additional 100 employees to bolster the 100 applicants they have already hired to man their Insurance Call Center. Some applicants will train and get certified as licensed Insurance agents making this a career path opportunity. Roughly 20% of the 200 new employes will be placed in management and support services positions, so this is truly an opportunity for all. Again they are providing the training so step up and grab a quality job while they’re open.
